Biography
AKI KURODA, 1944-
Aki Kuroda was born in Kyoto in 1944. He expresses himself through multiple media such as painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, scenography, installations and performances.
He spent his youth in Japan among many artistic influences before deciding to study Art History, after which he traveled to numerous places, notably New York, before settling in Paris in 1970. His first solo exhibition in Europe was shown in Germany in 1978 before partaking in Biennales in Paris and São Paulo. The works of Aki Kuroda can now be found in gallery and museum collections from Japan and China to France, Ireland, Brazil and the USA.
He was always influenced by Surrealism from a very early age, but with time Kuroda created his own world where he explores relationships between the Earth and the Cosmos, humanity in his Cosmogarden, and mythology in the present day.
