CLOVIS PRÉVOST
Biography
CLOVIS PRÉVOST, 1940-
Born in Paris in 1940, Clovis Prévost is a filmmaker, photographer and historian of Modern Art. He studied architecture at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris before turning his interest towards photography and cinema.
After a series of photos Prévost had taken of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona caught the attention of Salvador Dalí, the Catalan surrealist encouraged him to pursue other photographic and cinematic projects, in particular with the American sculptor Alexander Calder, the Catalan artists Antoni Tàpies and Joan Miró, and the Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida.
Prévost has also worked on interviews with contemporary artists such as Eduardo Arroyo, Valerio Adami and Aki Kuroda.
But what sets Prévost apart from other photographers or art historians is his complete discretion which gives him unlimited access to the intimate world of the artist, creating interviews and studio photos of an extremely rare quality.
